PFI Harthal: Kerala Government Confiscates PFI leaders’ Assets to Redeem the Damages

Following the ultimatum of Kerala High Court, the Kerala Government confiscates the immovable properties of Popular Front of India leaders. The order of Kerala high court is allegedly to redeem the damages of hartal declared against the raids by National Investigation agencies last year towards the PFI leaders and activists.

The proceedings began straight away under the leadership of different districts’ Revenue Deputy Collectors. In Palakkad district, the process has commenced to attach 16 Persons’s assets, including C.A Rauf, who was the State Secretary of PFI. In Malappuram the action is being taken against over 100 properties of 60 persons, including O.M.A Salam, former Chairman of PFI. According to the official report , The confiscation process has been completed in all the major districts like Thiruvanthapuram, Kottayam ,Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and so on.

Last year on September 27, The Kerala High court had ordered the damages made during the hartal should be recoup by PFI leaders and activists. The HC Kerala estimated the total loss to public property in the flash hartal in Kerala on September 23 as almost Rs. 5.2 Crore, including the damages of transport buses.

Last year the PFI was banned by Union Government by alleging “terror links” after a nation wide crackdown on the leaders of popular front of India by National Investigation Agency.
