Keralite Journalist Siddique Kappan Gets bail in PMLA Case, Will Step Out from Prison Soon

The Allahabad high court granted bail to Keralite Journalist Siddique Kappan, who has been in the prison in connection with Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case against him by the Enforcement Directorate ( ED ), NDTV reported. The last September he had got bail for his Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ( UAPA) case by Supreme court. Subsequently, he was booked under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the Enforcement Directorate.

The bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh Granted him bail. He had moved to the High Court seeking bail earlier in October 2022, after Lucknow Court denied him bail in the case.

Kappan was the secretary of the Delhi unit of Kerala Union of Working Journalist (KUWJ), and a reporter for Malayalam news portal Azhimukam. He was arrested along with three others in Uttar Pradesh in October 2020, while they were on the way to Hathras to cover the ghastly gangrape and murder of a 19-year old Dalit girl.
